Type Odia in Windows7 without
Odia software
Students, professionals and
persons who know INSCRIPT keyboard layout typing, they are now kings
Step 1: Go to Control
Panel of your computer
Step 2: Choose the program Region
and Language
Step 3: Click on the ‘Keyboards
and Language’ tab and then click on the Change Keyboards...
Step 4: Now check that you are on General Tab
of the dialogue box and click on the Add... and you will see Add
Input Language scroll down list
Step 5: Now scroll the list
to get Oriya (India) and click on the + sign to see its full list,
then you will see Keyboard, Other
Step 6: Click on the +
sign of Keyboard and select Oriya. It means the check box of Oriya
has been tick marked
Step 7: Click on the OK
button, now you will see OR Oriya (India) keyboard Oriya within Installed Services menu
Step 8: Click on the Apply
tab, then click OK, then OK of main dialogue box
Step 9: Close the Control
Panel window and watch the Task Bar (right side icons of Start Bar) showing EN
or OR
Step 10: EN is code
of English keyboard and OR is code of Oriya keyboard. Activate
the OR keyboard and start typing Odia elsewhere on your computer programs
like Word Processor, Worksheet etc.
Watch the magic, activating
Oriya keyboard is also ensuring Kalinga font in the font menu and
showing Odia characters as per your keystrokes.
(N.B. During release of
Windows7 OS, the word Oriya had not been renamed as Odia.)
